Cybersecurity, Future, IDRA, Interviews!….This Week on The Water MBA
New Episode
A new episode will be released on The Water MBA platform (link provided at the end of this email). As usual, I’ll share the story behind it and some reflections. Next week…
One of the major players worldwide, EMERSON, has provided an impactful episode in our platform.
It blew my mind to see the history of the evolution of the automation. But much more to understand that what we have today, it will be totally OBSOLETE in a few years.
I believe this reflect in the best shape the need for being permanently updated and trained and the advantages of those professionals that embrace our methodology of continuous learning.
Antonio Gallego and Julio Pardo are incredibly passionate about their work.
The chapter number 5 is specially interesting, because Julio reflects all the common pitfalls the companies take when facing the developing of the control systems in desalination plants.
You may think, that one you commit a mistake, you learn from it. In this system, IT ALWAYS HAPPEN. After a bunch of projects, the problems remain exactly the same. This brings schedule delay, extra costs for the EPC, insatisfaction by all stakeholders, and a feeling of burnout.
General Stuff
In this section, I’ll highlight notable congresses, webinars, and more. This week…
IDRA Abu Dhabi congress has flooded social networks with the presence of the top professionals and companies worldwide for desalination and reuse.
I’ve read most of the highlights and pictures shared by our peers. From my side, one thing has stuck in my mind: MEGA VESSEL.
I copy from the published post:
“Mega-Vessel Membrane System for reverse osmosis (RO) applications.
What makes this technology revolutionary?
🔧 Simplified Design: Fewer fittings, pipes, and connections mean lower footprint, lower CAPEX and easier maintenance.
⚡ Energy Efficiency: Reduces energy consumption and operational costs.
🌍 Sustainability: Shorter installation times and reduced membrane cleaning frequency contribute to a greener future.”
It looks like instead of the traditional PV holding 7 membranes, this mega vessel is about to hold much more membranes, that thanks to the economy of scale the benefits are clear.
This has reminded me of the PX-400 Energy Recovery Device, bigger scale, greater efficiency, less energy consumption.
I do not have still the details of this Mega-Vessel, but I am committed to know more about it in 2025 and share the learning.
Behind the Scenes
This week I have had the privilege of being interviewed in two podcasts. I am more kind of listener than speaker, so it took me a significant effort to be talking 1h30 minutes in one of them, while the other took 30 minutes, was very dynamic but also very challenging because the host is a famous professional whose main purpose is to leave the talks with more questions than answers, so he pushes to the limit.
For the main podcast episode, I received a list of 19 questions. I always like preparing business meetings in advance, though I do not get much in the details. So I prepared my CheatSheet, like a guideline for bullet points, that white paper you see in my desktop. Just some pillars. And then I improvise and let the conversation flows.
The main interview shall be released by February-March 2025. The 30 min interview will be published probably this week, that I will share as soon as it is available.
I will share the picture of the Cheatsheet during next weeks.
This experience is part of the journey. I am sure it will not be the best, but not the last one.
Below is the link to access the platform. Remember, the subscription is fully flexible, and there’s a 3-day free trial. If any episode piques your interest, the cost won’t stand in your way.
I kindly ask you to spread the word and share with colleagues or anyone that may be interested in growing and scaling up in the water industry.
That’s all for today.
See you next week.
