1st season recap.
Stats, milestones, and a preview of where The Water MBA is heading in 2025/2026.
Time for a quick recap, many of you are on board since the beginning, but others are joining now.
I'm in a stage of life that has led me to want to pass along my insights and experience, rather than keep them to myself - Ray Dalio
When I started The Water MBA, I had a few things crystal clear:
I wanted to become the highest version of myself.
As an engineer, I love problems and challenges, my brain always wants a workout.
I love learning, and even more, I love helping others.
I value human connection, enjoying the experience and the process itself, not just chasing a final goal.
I truly believe there are endless opportunities to create value, and that knowledge is so vast, no individual can ever master it all.
I was also aware of my time management limits, a corporate job, family, sports, health... How could I access meaningful education and still grow, given the little time I had?
I’m sure many of you can see yourselves in these words.
That’s where The Water MBA became the perfect intersection of all these things, and that’s what I’ve been building for nearly two years.
I want everyone who joins our community to look back, years from now, and see they’ve achieved 10x or even 100x growth, both personally and professionally.
I want us to create “unicorns”, to help people reach their highest potential, especially those who truly engage with what we’re doing here.
That’s the ultimate goal.
Every week, with every learning we share and every talk we host, we’re building momentum. It’s compound interest, not just in knowledge, but in mindset, purpose, and transformation.
Our community
Just like barrier systems in water treatment, I know we’re all engaged at different levels, and I truly appreciate each and every one of you :)
LinkedIn: Thank you to everyone who engages, comments, likes, and shares our posts. In the past year, we’ve reached almost 100,000 water professionals around the world. I know social media can feel overwhelming at times, so I genuinely value your time and interaction at this level.
Over 3,700 professionals have subscribed to our LinkedIn Newsletter, and we’ve had around 56,000 reads from peers in the past year.
Over 400 water professionals are subscribed to this weekly publication and article series (this one). We grow by around 5% each month, slowly but steadily. I’m truly grateful you take 5 focused minutes each week to read and reflect with us.
And a special thanks to our 41 members in The Water MBA TV, I deeply appreciate your effort to engage more deeply with our video episodes. We’ll continue improving and expanding the content in the months ahead.
Your help
Here are a few ways you can really help:
Recommend guests. Please drop me a message suggesting any amazing professional. They don’t need to be C-suite, we just want to learn from great peers, regardless of their job title.
Suggest topics to be addressed. So far, we’ve been shaping our content based on user feedback, which has helped us consistently exceed the expectations of those joining.
Spread the word. Help us grow by talking about our community in your water circles.
Promote within your company. If you have some influence in your organization, it would be incredibly helpful to include our TV content as part of your corporate training program.
Share third-party content. Do you have something valuable that we can water “reuse”? Sometimes it's not about creating something new, but about how we explain and communicate existing ideas. If you have a video, webinar, course, anything you think is valuable, I'd be happy to review and possibly integrate it into The Water MBA TV.
Explore business opportunities. I speak with many of you regularly, don’t hesitate to reach out if you see real opportunities (projects, partnerships, consulting, connections, etc.). Even if only 1 out of 20 requests succeeds, it’s still a win!
The Water MBA Book(s)!
As I’ve mentioned in some interviews and posts, about 18 months ago I decided to write about my experience creating The Water MBA.
I was sure it would help many peers in the water sector find their purpose and understand the challenges I have been facing.
Most people only see the “showcase”, not what’s behind the scenes. You might read this article in 6 minutes, but it takes around 6 hours of work to create.
Right now:ç
“The Water MBA Part I”: I have a Word file of about 32,000 words. It explains why I founded The Water MBA and details the creation process month by month, from December 2021 to December 2024. But every day, I feel I can improve the wording, polish certain chapters, and add new ones. It feels like a never-ending project! I believe products that are slowly cooked taste better, and I really hope to release this book by 2026.
“The Water MBA Part II”: At the same time, I’m motivated to write a second part, which will complement all our articles, videos, and content. It will be a written journey through our industry from A to Z, showing how all the different fields are interconnected.
What can I expect for 2025/2026?
I think we’ve tested the temperature of the waters.
We’re starting to get a feel for how things work in our industry, who are really moving the needle, where the money is flowing, the key challenges ahead in different countries, and the narratives shaping the water sector.
We’re also realizing how important it is to stay informed about what’s happening in connected industries like climate, energy, and sustainability, because everything is interlinked.
For the next season, our goal is to continue growing the community, increasing user engagement, and diving deeper into topics that still need attention.
Weekly or Bi-weekly Episodes + Articles
I’ll focus more on depth than quantity. Our guests are lined-up and believe me they are incredible.Project Management Channel
This is crucial. As professionals, we often struggle with the day-to-day, and we need to build stronger skills in areas like contract management, time management, stakeholder engagement, engineering, procurement, construction, and business development.Artificial Intelligence Channel
We'll keep an eye on any major disruptions or opportunities that AI might bring to the water industry.Water Shorts Channel
Expect short, 5–10 minute episodes where I share quick takes and reflections on specific topics.Water Stories Channel
MBA’s tend to use the “Case Method”, and this is what we aim to achieve in this channel. Using the story of certain key players, we’ll explain a few things related to our industry (businesses models, strategic moves, etc…)
Courses
Following the success of Intake & Outfall Course, the demand on Desalination is raising and therefore we’ll start our specific course in 2026.
I just joined, how can I start?
Many of you who are just starting with The Water MBA TV often ask me:
“Do you have any recommendations for where to begin?”
One habit I’ve found helpful is keeping an Excel tracking file of the episodes.
In it, I summarize why I wanted to share each episode, what I learned, and which ones are getting the highest viewership and feedback, often a good indicator of what resonates with the audience.
I’ve noticed there are roughly three levels of episode performance.
First, there are the top-performing episodes, highlighted in blue. These tend to attract the highest audience, perhaps because the guests promoted them well, or the topic had broader appeal.
The second tier of viewership, highlighted in green, includes episodes with solid, consistent engagement, just a bit below the top ones.
Then there’s the rest. These episodes may have slightly lower view counts, but we’ve noticed that some of them drive very strong engagement.
Often, they cover niche topics that are especially relevant to a smaller group of professionals, and honestly, that’s more than enough.
So, if you’re reading this and planning to start watching a few episodes in the coming weeks or months, here’s a home-made summary of all 64 episodes we've shared so far.
